Bucaramanga.- La secretaria de Desarrollo Social de Bucaramanga, Martha
Lucía Oliveros, estima que ha crecido el dato del censo establecido en 2011,
que determinó 1.423 niñas y niños trabajadores en la ciudad. Y como factores
que inciden en la expansión de este flagelo en nuestra región, señala: falta de
oportunidades, pobreza y deserción escolar, entre otros.
Las autoridades encargadas del tema consideran que por su
condición geográfica, su clima y la calidad de vida que tiene, Bucaramanga se
caracteriza como ciudad receptora, particularmente para personas en condición
de desplazamiento que recurren a todo tipo de actividades informales, para
buscar el sustento de sus familias e involucran en este proceso a los menores
de cada núcleo.
Las actividades más comunes encomendadas a los niños
trabajadores de la ciudad, son: venta informal, mendigar y limpiar vidrios de
los carros, con preferencia en lugares como las esquinas y los semáforos de
vías con mayor movimiento vehicular, tales como la carrera 33, el sector de
Cabecera, el terminal de transportes y el centro de la ciudad. Los rangos de
edades de los menores trabajadores están de 7 a 14 años.
Actualmente, a través de las secretarías de Desarrollo Social,
Educación y Salud y Ambiente, la oficina de la Gestora Social Glenys Pedraza,
la Alta Consejería de política Social y el Instituto de la Juventud, el Deporte
y la Recreación (Inderbu), la Administración Municipal desarrolla diversas
acciones institucionales en colegios, barrios y comunas de la ciudad, para
desestimular el trabajo infantil y motivar el ingreso de los menores a las
aulas escolares.
Una actividad específica se cumplió recientemente en el
colegio Oriente Miraflores, de la Comuna 14, bajo la coordinación de la
Secretaría de Desarrollo Social.
